In 1930 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Edward J. Kane traded his car for a used truck and began making regional deliveries to Northeast Pennsylvania businesses. That was the start of Kane Freight Lines. In 1955, Edward’s son, Eugene Kane, Sr., took over the family business and established Kane Warehousing. Today, Kane Is Able, Inc. (KANE), manages more than 6.5 million square feet of warehouse space across the U.S. and a truckload fleet of 140 power units and 800 trailers.

Eugene Kane’s daughters, Kathleen Calpin and Kelly Stark, worked for many years in various departments within the family business. Following in their father’s footsteps, they started Kalstar Enterprises in December of 2004. Headquartered in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Kalstar provides warehousing and packaging services to help CPG companies efficiently manufacture and distribute goods. Kalstar leverages KANE resources to provide an integrated warehousing and distribution solution, including freight management. The company has grown to become one of the country’s largest minority-owned logistics business enterprises.

Principles that Guide Us

When it comes to 3PL companies, culture matters. You need a 3PL partner that understands the critical role it plays in your supply chain, and that acts like a member of your staff, doing whatever it takes to get the job done right. As an affiliate of KANE, Kalstar follows some basic principles that support our customer-first culture. From top management down to every associate in the distribution center, we follow the KANE Code.

  1. Keep safety first. Your family, your colleagues, and your customers count on you.
  2. Sweat the details. If you don’t, customers will find someone who will.
  3. Honor your word. Never make promises you can’t keep.
  4. Avoid surprises. Customers hate them. Communicate quickly, good news or bad.
  5. Treat customers like family. Because they are.

Kalstar has a strategic focus on the consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector. We provide logistics services that help CPG companies efficiently manufacture and distribute goods. Kalstar specializes in packaging and other value-added warehouse services that allow CPG companies to postpone final product configuration until the very last leg of the supply chain.

Women’s Causes that We Support

Kalstar is proud to support charitable organizations that support women, including the annual Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure.
